Chris, lovely post and congratulations on the book. Your BrainDumps continue to inspire a lot of us.
One question though, where’s the audiobook? It feels like the sort of thing many of us would happily listen to while walking, driving, or sailing.
And I do wonder if the bigger opportunity might be beyond audio… perhaps gradually encoding the BrainDump methodology itself so people can bring problems to it and see how the framework applies.
I'm glad you like it Bridget. I'm publishing 3x per week for Founders and Operators and so there are loads of great resources including 5O tools for Founders to help them pitch, raise and run their startup. Feel free to check it all out and use what you need ✅
Chris, this is outstanding. As a former HR operator, the shift from “Motivation 2.0” carrot-and-stick to a systems view built on autonomy, mastery, and purpose is exactly how modern founders turn motivation into an operating advantage rather than an HR initiative.
"Chris, your book is a masterclass in why most businesses plateau.
In the skilled trades, we see the 'Operator’s Trap' everywhere—owners who 'buy the dog and bark themselves' through micromanagement because they haven't built the systems to trust their team's autonomy.
I’ve found that mastery is the strongest hook for retention in the trades. When a technician understands that they are not merely performing tasks, but rather serving as the 'architects' of a sophisticated system, their level of intensity significantly increases.
It’s the difference between a crew that just hits targets and a team that actually compounds value. I am eager to delve into the Big Book of BrainDumps, as it appears to be the much-needed field manual for technicians.
Purpose particularly resonates. It's amazing what a connection to something greater can do for one's performance. We all need to be a part of something more than we are.
